Bike About Shasta Ride –Downtown Loop Ride

Bike Abouts are beginner-friendly rides to learn how to explore your neighborhood and community by bike. Whether you want to do a quick errand by bike, ride to school or work, or just get out to enjoy nature, these rides are for you! The rides in this series will feature safety tips for riding in traffic, allow you to experience the comfort of riding in a group, and familiarize you with routes that may be different from motor vehicle routes. We will provide a bike pump, so if your tires need air, come a little early. Please make sure you have a bike in good working order, bring a water bottle and helmet (required for rides). Lights on your bike are strongly encouraged. Rides will be conducted by Anna Blasco and Sara Sundquist, Certified League of American Bicyclist Instructors, in partnership with the Shasta Wheelmen Bicycle Club.
For this ride, meet us at the Shasta Bike Depot, 1322 California St, downtown Redding. Before taking off on this ride, we will discuss safety tips for riding around town. This ride will take you from downtown to the Sacramento River Trail, over the Sundial Bridge to the City of Redding’s newly FULLY completed path at the Civic Center connecting to the ‘two-way cycle track’ – a bikeway separated from motor vehicles on the roadway starting on Butte St. Learn how to get in and out of downtown Redding to work, errands, or for recreation and community events like the Rodeo and Garden of Lights, or to access the world-renowned Sacramento River Trail system. Bring water, helmet, a bike in good working order, and lights to ride home. Ride distance: 5 miles.
