Healthy Shasta Thanks Local Restaurants Committed to Salt Savviness

Healthy Shasta would like to thank the restaurants and food service operators that participated in the recent Cut the Sodium, Keep the Flavor workshop.

On average, Americans eat more than twice the recommended sodium limit for most adults and at the training everyone learned 77 percent of the sodium we eat is already present in processed and restaurant foods.

One in three Shasta County residents has high blood pressure, and high sodium diets are scientifically linked to high blood pressure, which can lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney disease.

Thank you to the following participants for their time and dedication to becoming more salt savvy. What they learned could improve the health of our community.

Black Bear Diner
Braided Mane Restaurant
Cattlemens Restaurant
Crumbs Restaurant
Enterprise Elementary School District
Express China Restaurant
Grilla Bites Restaurant
Sailing Boat Restaurant
Willow Springs Alzheimer’s Special Care Center

We’d also like to thank the Healthy Kids Choice restaurants for offering and promoting healthy options for kids! To learn more about becoming salt savvy, visit our Salt Savvy page.
