1:30 – 2:50 pm: Livable Community Design Part I: Economic & Other Benefits
Charlie will talk about the big picture concepts and benefits of livable community design. His perspective combines economic development with strategies to improve walkability and bikability. Charlie will offer his experience in implementing complete streets in a way that everyone wins. This talk is geared toward business, development, real estate, advocates, and the general community.
3:00 – 4:30 pm: Livable Community Design Part II: Implementation Tools
This discussion will focus on the practical implementation of livable community design and the creation of walkable and bikable communities. Charlie will share what tools other communities are using, including concepts on how to design facilities to accommodate various modes of transportation, how to implement Complete Streets, funding mechanisms, policies and practices, level of service criteria and more. This discussion will focus on practical implementation tools for engineers, designers, planners, and community leaders.
