Meet us at the Shasta Bike Depot, 1322 California St, downtown Redding. Before taking off on this ride, we will discuss how to do an ABC Quick Check of your bike, how to fit your helmet, and how to effectively lock up your bike. This ride will take you from downtown to the Sundial Bridge on Redding’s newest ‘two-way cycletrack’ – a bikeway separated from motor vehicles on the roadway. Bring money to enjoy a Taste and See ice cream treat following the ride. One lucky rider will be treated to ice cream! Ride distance: 5 miles.
This ride is 2 of 3 in a series of Bike Abouts –beginner friendly rides to learn how to explore your neighborhood and community by bike. Whether you want to do a quick errand by bike, ride to school or work, or just get out to enjoy nature, these rides are for you! The rides in this series will feature safety tips for riding in traffic, allow you experience the comfort of riding in a group, and familiarize you to routes that may be different from motor vehicle routes. We will provide a bike pump, so if your tires need air, come a little early. Please make sure you have a bike in good working order, bring a water bottle and helmet (required for rides). Rides will be conducted by Anna Blasco and Sara Sundquist, Certified League of American Bicyclist Instructors. All riders will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
