SHASTA BIKE MONTH & CHALLENGE
2025 Shasta Bike Challenge – May 1-31
Ride 5 this May with the Bike Month Challenge! This May, we challenge you to ride at least 5 miles. However, the more you ride, the greater the chances of winning. There are many ways to participate and win! Here is how it works:
🚲 Register for the challenge at http://lovetoride.net/ .
✍️ Log your rides through the Love to Ride App, Strava, MapMyFitness, Garmin.Connect, or manually on the Love to Ride website.
💚 Gain points by logging rides and encouraging others to ride. Each bike trip you log gives you entries into weekly and final prize drawings.
🏢 Workplaces compete to get the most people riding 5 miles!
👨👩👧👦 Get your family and friends involved by creating a group and competing with other groups of similar sizes for the most bike trips during May.
📲 Download the FREE Love to Ride app – set goals, rate routes, check street ratings, and auto-log rides to never miss a ride!
It doesn’t matter how far you go, every ride counts. Whether it’s a quick spin around the block or a longer commute, every time you ride and log it, you’re entered into drawings to win great prizes.
Ready to join us? Sign up at lovetoride.net or download the app and let’s make the most of spring—one ride at a time!🚴♀️☀️
Be a Citizen Scientist! Download the Love to Ride app & contribute to better cycling in Shasta County
You may be an avid Strava user, that’s great! Connecting your Strava account to your Love to Ride profile is one way to log rides during the Shasta Bike Challenge. You can also download the Love to Ride app in your App store and use this alongside another app to help contribute to better bicycling in Shasta County.
By downloading the Love to Ride app, enjoying bike rides, and rating your route on how comfortable it was for you after each ride, you’ll contribute anonymous data that can make our community better for bicycling! This anonymous data is shared with transportation agencies to show where people are riding and where they feel comfortable and uncomfortable. See how this is possible by watching this 2.5-minute video from Love to Ride.
Even if you have both apps running during the challenge, they are designed not to double log rides. You can connect to both and be a citizen scientist! Auto-logging helps to catch those shorter bike trips that you might not remember to start/stop, but they still help paint a picture of how our residents are getting around by bike!
Bike BINGO!
This year, we have a challenge within a challenge to add to the fun-Bike BINGO! This bingo card pushes you to pedal somewhere new or use your bike in a different way, all while encouraging connection with others and your community.
Complete a true bingo (5 squares in a row either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) during the month of May for a custom messenger bag (while supplies last). Turn in your card digitally by June 3 to shastabikemonth@gmail.com or bring it to the Bike Month and Bigfoot Adventure Challenge Celebration on June 4th.
Messenger bags will be distributed at the June 4th event. While we know you might be able to accomplish multiple activities on one ride, we encourage you to check off just one activity with each ride-challenge yourself and get more rides in for the Shasta Bike Challenge!
